Re: Question

Ahh. Many people forget about the radar. I for one use it too much. It hinders me more than helps at many points when I’m gaming.

Re: Question

Yeah, maybe, but you'd think someone who ends up loading out ME1 Shepard with a combat sensor on every weapon so that she keeps the radar would learn to use it at least enough to not get flanked... again.

Re: Question

Honestly, for gun mods, it’s the best one. I always mod my guns out with it. Hmm. Idk. Weird choices.

Re: Question

That and polonium rounds, best ammo mod by a mile. I found it weird that all the ammo mods grade IX and X were downgrades on what you could get at level VII or VIII...

Everything else on my Shepard's loadout were combos of scanners and heatsinks. I experimented with some crazy combos for the rest of the squad. Wrex definitely ended up with a shotgun that was crazy powerful but overheated after like one shot.

Re: Question

Tali and Liara were my fire suppressors. Get me in close to finish them.

Re: Question

I think my entire ME1 method evolved (or maybe devolved) into a war of attrition. I will hold here with my squad whilst all the bad guys slowly throw themselves at us and die.

Until there's like one or two guys left who stubbornly refuse to leave their little areas so we have to move in to take them out.

Re: Question

Guerilla warfare. Run like hell to a choke point, “Hold the Line”, and survive until all hostile are eliminated.

Now ME2, war of attrition, straight up.

Re: Question

Weirdly, given that I've actually played ME2 (or some of it before the lack of skipping the loading screen drove me nuts!) more recently than ME1 I can remember a lot less of the combat from it.

Other than that breaking Jack out is an absolute pain in the arse. Though weirdly not the boss bit of that area, just the bloody YMIR mech.

Re: Question

Those mechs are so obnoxious. At least they aren’t Ardat-Yakshi. I’m not mentally prepared for those. Since I started playing through the series. I’ve been treating it like a TV series and playing an hour every few days. I know like 4 things to dread. Both of the enemies I’ve listed are on there: the dread list.

Re: Question

Oh god I hate the Ardat-Yakshi mission, I love the story, but my god it's an evil fight at the end. My method for that is to attack, run, attack some more, run, realise belatedly that my squad are on the floor and revive and continue until somehow it's all over.

So what're the other two things on the "dread list"?

Re: Question

The death laser at the end of 3. And just the mere thought of those insects that freeze you, like irl, that is just terrifying.

Re: Question

So this is real life terrifying not in-game terrifying? The thing that always got me was the eye clamps in Overlord. Bastard Cerberus tech.

Also currently redoing ME1 on insanity game+ and bloody thresher maws one-shot killing you by appearing under you. How the hell can you stop that? Other than dumb luck. I'm fine with certain things being able to one-shot kill me on insanity mode, but I at least expect a chance to be able to defend myself from said attack.

Re: Question

They’re thresher maws. You’re not suppose to know, that’s the thing about them. In universe, they are like the deadliest things once you’re near one.

Re: Question

I get that, but surely these guys have really sophisticated scanning tech or something..? I dunno, just letting it kill you in game before you even know it's there just doesn't feel fair. But then again life isn't fair so I shouldn't complain...

You, uh, okay there? That last sentence shot up a red flag.

Re: Question

Oh, yeah, I'm fine, just a bit tired. I just realised my argument for wanting some fairness in a game mode labelled "insanity" (back when that meant something) was totally illogical.

Or more rather you were pointing out that in reality it would happen like that, therefore my fairness argument didn't actually address that.

Anyway I'm on Ilos now which means I think I'm done with Thresher Maws. Famous last words...

Are you doing okay?

Re: Question

Some might say that’s “insane”. I’ll leave now.

And I’m back, gameplay wise and story wise fighting those things, they suck.

Hmm. I think so? Can’t be too sure.

I’ve been better. Nothing a little rest and relaxation can’t fix. You know, during a pandemic and my country being run by the worlds most powerful toddler. USA!

Re: Question

We're not doing much better, we've got his mini-me.

Oh, and a bunch of people in the government who seem to be surprised by their own country's borders! Seriously, satire is dead in the UK because it's become the norm.

I keep thinking this will all be over soon, the worry is that we'll either have to go through Gilead or 1984 to get there...

Re: Question

I want to believe things are about to get better. But in 2021 we get the joy that is Brexit. October is going to be a real telling month on how bad that cluster is actually going to be. (For the record I am happy to be proven wrong, but our govt don't inspire confidence.)
