fan fiction scroll18 Revan’s Journal: Dantooine: Arranging the Ebon Hawk

 Star Wars

I pulled up my visor, took off my helmet and climbed up the turret pod.

“Is everyone still alive?” I asked.

“Yeah, or at least I think we all are…” Mission greeted me.

I took a breath and called everyone to the centre of the ship.

“Bastila how long before we reach Dantooine?” I asked.

“In about a day or two.”

“Do we have enough supplies to last that long on this ship?” I asked the group. It was Zaalbar who answered.

“The question is once we get to Dantooine, what do we do?” Carth asked.

“Well, that’s Bastila’s call, we are after all under her command and Zaalbar’s sticking around with me so Mission is as well. The real question is where you going Canderous and is T3 coming with you? After all, the droid is technically yours.” I turned my attention to Canderous.

“I think I’ll stick around. I get the feeling things tend to happen around you Eon, I wouldn’t want to miss out.”

“Alright, Bastila?’ I then turned to her.

“What?”

“Now were off Taris, I no longer have authority in this… journey, and since you are my commanding officer, what do we do?” I asked her.

“First I suggest we get some rest, when we get to Dantooine we’ll ask the Council in the Enclave about these dreams of yours and see if you can be trained.”

“Trained?” I asked in surprise.

“Yes, as a Jedi. The Force is strong in you Eon, much as I hate to admit it but, it’s even stronger in you than it is in me. The Jedi can’t just let something that… wild out there without being sure it can be contained.” She said in a rather matter-of-factly sort of voice.

“So the Jedi’s all for control now huh? I told you things look like they tend to happen to you Eon.” Canderous said sarcastically.

“That’s not what I meant!” Bastila replied sounding irritated.

“Um, but that’s exactly what you said.” Mission chipped in.

“See! Aha ha!” Canderous began laughing uproariously.

Turning her attention back to me, Bastila raised her voice until Canderous stopped laughing, albeit his shoulders still kept shaking.

“What I meant Eon is that if you don’t know how to control it, it might consume and you’ll probably become a threat not only to the galaxy, but to yourself as well; that’s why we need to train you.” She explained.

“You know, I heard that the Jedi can mess with your head, you know, wipe your memory and stuff.” Carth added.

“Jedi do no such thing Carth!” Bastila shouted defensively.

“Enough!” I shouted.

All the talk of being a Jedi made me jittery. I didn’t want to become a Jedi, knowing all the commitment they had to the galaxy and the Force, but for some reason I actually felt… excited. Like I was a Jedi before, or that was what I was meant to be since the beginning, or better still, like I wanted to be.
In a way I felt that if I became I Jedi, I could answer all the questions I had in my head, then I remembered my dreams about that battle on the bridge of that ship and Goosebumps started to run down my body.

Composing myself, I asked Bastila: “What if I don’t want to be a Jedi, do I have any say in that matter?”

“You do, but in the end you’ll see that it’s the only logical choice to be made.”

“Eon, what if we went straight to Coruscant? We could rendezvous with the army there and Bastila can head straight to the Jedi Temple there and we can forget this whole thing.” Carth suggested.

“Technically you can’t just forget the whole thing as one: I still am your commanding officer and can file you for insubordination and two, we don’t have enough fuel to get to Coruscant, and we can barely make it to Dantooine as it is.” Bastila told us all.

“Alright, we’ll settle this matter on Dantooine before we do anything else, the council there might just say no anyway; as far as I know, I’m way past the age of being trained. For now let’s get some grub and some rest. If we haven’t arrived on Dantooine by tomorrow we’ll familiarize ourselves with the ship, looks like we’ll be using her for quite awhile.” I told them.

The food we ate was some of the best we had in days; Davik Kang had seriously good taste. The bunkers we found in the dormitories had some of the softest mattresses and pillows I had ever touched. There were two rooms, one on the port side and one on the starboard section of the ship, with four bunkers each in total. We decided to divide the rooms by gender, but T3-M4 preferred to stay in the centre of the ship, the Map Room as we called it, slicing and upgrading the Ebon Hawk in any way he (or it would be more accurate) could. Mission preferred to spend her time in the Cargo Hold next to the Engine Room.

Zaalbar decided to spend his time in the Engine Room, tinkering with the engine of the ship. Canderous, wanting to be alone, preferred to stay in what looked like the Garage of the Ebon Hawk as there was a speeder parked in the room thought it looked more like an armoury and promptly took his mattress and pillows with him. Carth preferred to stay in the cockpit of the ship, reading from a collection of datapads we found in the Communications Room where the walls were filled with rows of datapads and holograms about different topics from fact and fiction.

Bastila ended up having the Starboard Dormitory all to herself which suited her perfectly as she wanted a quiet place where she could meditate. In the end I had the Port Dormitory all to myself albeit I only had my pillows and mattress as everyone took their own pillows and mattresses with them to ‘their part’ of the ship.

The ship still had a few places with no one in them, the Medical Bay, the turret cockpit and, of course, the bathroom. It was slightly eerie to see a freighter ship such as the Ebon Hawk with a bathroom installed. The Ebon Hawk wasn’t exactly huge, but now that I saw the interior, it was definitely bigger than an average freighter. Davik obviously made a lot of upgrades and remodelling on the ship and it must have been his “capital ship”. After inspecting the entire ship, I took back what I said about the Ebon Hawk and decided it definitely wasn’t for smuggling, but it was upgraded to be just as fast.

It took us about a day and a half to reach Dantooine, in that time we all we upgraded our personal weapons and armours, and even tried to get to know each other more. In this time I found out that Mission apparently has a brother that disappeared on her, Carth hates Saul Karath because his wife died when the latter bombarded Telos IV and him and his son became estranged because of this and now he’s missing. Canderous had many tales of battles and glory during the Mandalorian Wars and told me that even though the Mandalorians lost the war, they were honoured to be defeated by such a great strategist as the Revanchist.

“You know, you remind me of him sometimes.” Canderous told me.

“Who?” I asked.

“Revan, before he fell to the Dark Side of course.”

“What do you mean?”

“He was one of the most cunning strategists this galaxy has ever seen, he was also a great warrior and they say that he was very charismatic to the point that you would believe him in a matter of seconds if he was trying to recruit you.” Canderous replied with pride.

“Uhuh, with that description I don’t think I resemble him at all.”

“Oh but you do, or at least your starting to, after all, we’ve only tested your mantle as a warrior and as a leader, we haven’t seen you devise a great strategy…yet…”
