fan fiction scrollStar Wars: KOTOR Story 10-Atris

 Star Wars

Author’s Notes: The last of my KOTOR backstories. After this, I shall have more fanfics and non-KOTOR-related stories to work on. Enjoy.

The air on Telos was quiet, despite the space battle that was taking place overhead. The polar region was almost directly below the battle. Within a plateau, there was a hidden Jedi Enclave of sorts. Norris had already been there twice. She just recently left for the second time. Located in the very back room was fallen Jedi Master Atris, who was critically wounded by the fight she had just lost. “Indeed,” she said to herself, “the exile has grown strong since the day we sentenced her. I just didn’t expect her to defeat me.” Atris knew that she was slowly dying, and she knew that no one would come in the knick of time to save her. She had felt the others die through the Force. Vrook, Kavar, Zez Kai-Ell…and she already knew that Vash had been ended long before the other three had been.

Why did it happen? she thought to herself. HOW did it happen? I was supposed to be the last of the Jedi, not the newest member of the Sith. Hard to believe… Her train of thought was cut off by the blinding pain in her abdomen. She was bleeding internally as well as externally. “I suppose being consumed by darkness was always going to be my fate,” she muttered. “I only wish that it had been I to answer the call of war, not her. She didn’t deserve to suffer the injury that had been inflicted on her. If I could change places with her, I would, but it is too late for me to get caught up on regrets long past…”

She had intended to use this facility as a new Jedi Enclave, to replace the now-destroyed one on Dantooine. It was here that she had planned to rebuild the Jedi Order and rise up against the Sith to try and defeat them for good. Perhaps, she thought to herself, the exile can take over my role in trying to rebuild the Order. I only hope that she does not follow Revan any further, or my hopes may soon be dashed. Many things raced through her head at this point, but she did not stop to examine the thoughts closely. She could feel her strength and life fading away. “The exile told me that she would do nothing to me but leave me here to think about what I’ve done,” she said thankfully. In some weird way, she was happy that the exile had not killed her.

Suddenly, her knees buckled and she fell to the floor. “So, this is it,” she said. “This is the way that I die: Surrounded by Jedi and Sith holocrons and filled with regrets about my past. Somehow, I don’t feel like I’ve been cheated out of a better death. The exile was right to do what she did…I see that now…” She coughed up blood. She knew that she would die within the next couple of minutes. She quickly reminded herself of the last line of the Jedi Code: “There is no death…there is the Force…” She smiled weakly. “Thank you, Norris. You have made me see the error of my ways. Even in death, I know you did the right thing.” Then, her eyes slowly closed and her smile faded away. Atris, historian and last of the Jedi, was dead.

As Norris fought Darth Nihilus aboard the Ravager, she felt Atris die. She had known it would happen, but not so soon. Then, getting up to the peak of her power, she slew Darth Nihilus. Visas and Mandalore had been a great help in this fight. After Visas looked upon the face of her former Master and brought the mask to Norris, the Sith Lord dissolved in a mist of Dark Side energy. The three escaped the Ravager just as the zombie vessel was blown to smithereens by the proton cores that had been placed. After returning to Citadel Station and speaking to Carth, Norris and the rest of the Ebon Hawk’s crew flew to Malachor V. There, Norris defeated Darth Sion and Kreia. She boarded the Hawk and ignited the Mass Shadow Generator once more. As the planet died for good, the Ebon Hawk sped off into space, its destination not certain. Perhaps Norris would follow Revan into the Unknown Regions. For now, she did not know, but was finally able to relax for the first time in years.

  1. I like the style you have written in this. I always hated Atris, but by reading this, I can’t help but to feel sorry for her. You know, and Norris was there to feel Atris’s death. It’s so sad, really…:[

Hey, Nihilus, you should submit your fan fics on Deviantart! Everyone would love your stuff there! Yes, there are still lovers of the KotOR series still around! But I can understand if you don’t want to…
