“Please help me! Zaalbar was captured by Gamorrean slavers!”

That was the first thing that Mission said when we found her in the Under City.

The Under City wasn’t what I expected it to be. For one, there was a community that lived there. I had expected the Under City to be nothing more that sewers, but apparently the community that thrived there were humans that were cast out of the Upper City.

This community was lead by a man named Gendar who was pointed out to us by a woman named Shaleena after she chased a few beggars away who cornered Carth and me as soon as we stepped off the elevator.

Gendar warned us about venturing into the sewers as they were infested by the rakghouls, sentient species who were infected with the rakghoul virus and now were nothing more than beast. No cure has yet to be found for the rakghoul virus, at least not to the galaxy at large.

We headed his warning, but for the sake of the Republic war effort, we had to brave the danger of possibly being infected to save Bastila.

The moment we stepped out of the gates of the Under City community compound, we were attacked by a group of rakghouls. The fight wasn’t very hard, we were able to shoot them before they got too close but this wasn’t the problem.

As the last rakghoul fell I noticed another group of rakghouls attacking a lone Twi’lek, the Twi’lek was handling herself quite well but I knew that if we didn’t help her, she would soon be overrun. As we got closer, I was able to identify the Twi’lek as Mission Vao.

Without hesitation, I fired three rounds at the first rakghoul I could get in my sights; Carth was doing the same thing. I knew that I couldn’t keep firing into the group as I feared that I might hit Mission by mistake, so I went closer and closer towards the fray. It was amazing to watch Mission fight; she stroked the rakghoul with precision that showed her intimate knowledge of the vital spots of a sentient being. It was obvious that she was made for a blade.

As I delivered a throat cutting slash at the rakghoul who jumped in front of me, I thought that Mission would make the perfect assassin if she wanted to be. There and then, as I slew my fifth rakghoul, I was grateful that Mission wasn’t my enemy.

The fight ended shortly after that and before I was able to compose myself Mission drew a deep breath and said:

“Please help me! Zaalbar was captured by Gamorrean slavers!”

“Slow down Mission, tell us what happened.” Was the reply of Carth.

“Zaalbar and I were exploring the sewers like we always do when they ambushed us, I got away but Zaalbar wasn’t able to fight them off.” She answered.

“All right; Gandon told us to find you so that you could lead us to the Black Vulkars base but I don’t think you would cooperate seeing that Zaalbar was captured. So how about this, we help you find Zaalbar and you help us get into the base after that?” I asked.

“Sure! Just as long as Zaalbar before they get to ship him off somewhere. But we better do it fast. Gamorreans aren’t known for their patience.” She said without hesitation.

I was obvious that Mission cared a lot for her Wookiee companion. As I soldier, I knew a lot about loyalty and how having a companion could save your life on the battlefield, so I was able to understand what Mission was feeling. The three of us headed straight to the last known location of Zaalbar and began searching for clues as to where the Gamorreans might have taken him.

As we searched the sewers, we ran into more rakghouls and Gamorreans and a few sith corpses. It was obvious that the sith was sent there to find more Republic forces that escaped the destruction of the Endar Spire and to possibly exterminate the rakghouls. If they were there to exterminate the rakghouls, they were doing a really bad job. In one such pile of corpses, we found a bag full of vials of a serum that we couldn’t identify. I didn’t know what they were for but I had a feeling that if the sith were carrying it, it could very well be important. We also found a cargo locker containing a bowcaster which was obviously made for a Wookiee. Mission took it without hesitation and swung it across her back saying:

“This is Zaalbar’s. I know it’s his because of the number of times I’ve seen him use it.”

Soon we found a door that looked like it was a temporary holding cell of some sort. We were correct in our assumption that it was a holding cell, but we were wrong about it holding Zaalbar. The room was full of rakghouls; at least two dozen of them. With no time to run or to look for cover, the three of us engaged the rakghouls in a bloody brawl that left us with a few scratches.

We were lucky that the cuts weren’t deep enough to cause us to catch the virus, but mine were deep enough to penetrate the armour I was wearing and my skin.

“Damn it. Now I’ll need to find a new set of armour.” I cursed.

“We should get a medic to see those wounds as soon as possible. They might fester or become something worse.” Mission commented.

“We have to find Zaalbar first. I brought a med pack, it should serve until I can get proper medical attention.” I said.

“Wait, do you hear that?” Carth asked.

“Sounds like someone’s in the room beyond that door, and whoever it is doesn’t sound happy. Wait a minute… that sounds like a Wookiee…” I said without any real conviction.

“It does! Zaalbar were coming!” Mission screamed.

Before I could stop her, she was running towards the door and hacking into its lock with the speed and precision of countless of years of experience. There and then did I realize that my earlier thought was an understatement, Mission wouldn’t make a great assassin, she would be THE assassin if she wanted to be. As luck would have it, it was Zaalbar who was in that room…
