fan fiction scrollFight or Flee: Ravenstrike’s Assault on Norris and Her Companions

 Atton RandBastila ShanCarth Onasi

The night was still. Norris Ossus and her crew decided to spend the night at Carth’s house. Once again, Atton was the only one awake. Though this time, not because of dreams, but because of the feeling of being watched. It made him uneasy. He went to pour more coffee into his cup. Outside, he could hear someone or something moving around. “Probably just a damn cannok.” he assumed. Going back into the living room, the feeling popped up again. He put his coffee down on the table and went outside. He was going to see what was watching him. As soon as he opened the door, a figure burst inside the doorway. He stared down at Atton. “Who are you?!?” Atton asked the thing. “My name is not important,” it replied. “What I want from you is to forsake your feelings, for they bring nothing but grief.” With the, it went back outside and disappeared from plain sight. Atton was weirded out.

By morning, Atton had fallen asleep on the couch. Forsaking his feeling was something he’d never do. It was 7:30 when someone else awoke. It was Bao-Dur. He grunted and yawned and stretched. He looked at Atton wearily and asked, “Sleepless night?” “Yeah…I guess you could call it that.” “I didn’t get much sleep myself. Kept having a feeling that someone was looking through my window at me. Creeped me out.” “Well, someTHING burst in here last night, telling me to ‘forsake my feelings’.” “Interesting.” “Yeah.” Bao-Dur went into the kitchen and got himself his morning coffee.

Next to wake up was Mira, who told Atton and Bao-Dur about the dream she had had about being the star Jedi of the Galaxy. After Mira was Mical, who just sat down without saying a word. Everyone else woke up at around 8:45. Soon, the house was bustling with conversations. Atton kept looking out the window. Norris noticed this and asked, “Atton, what’s wrong?” “Huh? What? Oh, nothing.” Norris knew this wasn’t the truth, but didn’t want to pry. Suddenly a loud crash came from outside.

“What the hell was that?” asked Mandalore, bewildered. “I don’t know. But, I’m gonna check it out!” This came from Revan, who was eager to see it. Bastila followed him. Soon, everyone made their way outside. Carth looked around anxiously, as if looking for something. Then, Ravenstrike leapt down from one of the steppes. “Who wishes to fight me?” he asked arrogantly. “YOU!” Bastila and Norris said at the same time, their voices in an angry tone. “Yes, it is I. You,” he pointed at Bastila, “will pay dearly for that injury. And you,” he now pointed at Norris, “shall see the error of your ways!” He drew dual silver lightsabers, which he had kept from his Jedi days. “Now, who wishes to fight me first? Jedi only, so no interventions.” Revan stepped forward. “I’ll gladly fight you.” he said with a proud tone in his voice. He proceeded to draw his single blue saber and stepped forward to fight this new foe.

The battle started and ended rather quickly. Revan kept mindlessly slashing at his foe, while Ravenstrike used calculations to determine when to strike. There was no denying that this being was clever and intelligent. He slahed Revan across the chest and in the stomach, and sent him flying back with Fore Wave. Bastila caught him just before he hit some jagged rocks. “Who next?” the fallen one asked. “I will do this!” This came from, surprisingly, both Bao-Dur AND Mical, who stepped forward. Bao drew his double-bladed green saber, and Mical his double-bladed purple saber. “Two double-sabers? This should get interesting.” The three fought for a long five minutes. Ravenstrike finally impaled Mical in the chest in Bao-Dur in the legs. He used Force Wave again and knocked them back.

Finally, Atton stepped up. Taking his dual yellow lightsabers in hand, he ignited them and rushed forward. Ravenstrike could predict nothing this time. Atton attacked too fiercely. He finally stabbed Ravenstrike with both sabers: One in the chest and the other in the stomach. Ravenstrike fell to the ground in pain, the first emotion he had felt in quite a few years. Suddenly, Norris rushed to his side. “You…your name is Ravenstrike, isn’t it?” He looked at her weakly. “Yes…I…loved you…when we were merely students. There’s…no hope left for me now…let me die in agony and lonliness.” “No! I won’t let you die, not even after all you’ve done.” He looked at her in weak amazement. She could feel his pulse growing weaker by the second. She used her unique Force power, Restore Life, on him. He stopped bleeding and smiled weakly. Then, he passed out. Norris laid his head down softly on the grass. She went to help the others who had been wounded.

Mical was mortally wounded, it appeared. He was growing weaker and weaker, the look on his face fading. He looked at Norris. “M…Master Ossus…do not try to help me. I’m already dead.” She started to cry. “No, don’t say that! You’re not dead yet! Let me help you!” He shook his head slowly. He didn’t want to be saved. “I will be happy knowing that I pro…tec…ted youuuu…” His voice faded and his eyes closed.

Mical was dead.

Sorrow gripped the entire group. Bastila buried her head in Revan’s shoulder, and Atton held Norris in his arms. Carth bowed his head in respect. The rest of the crew did the same. They put his body in the house. When everyone had gone back outside, Ravenstrike was still inside. “Maybe…” he started, “love isn’t so bad. He loved her, as I did. I shall give him the life I took back.” With that, Ravenstrike held his scarred left hand over Mical’s body. A strange yellow light began to pulse outward from his palm. He was restoring Mical’s life force. Ravenstrike pulled his hand away slowly. Mical’s eyes opened slowly, and Ravenstrike smiled weakly at him. When he heard someone coming in, he went back to his bed and pretended to be unconscious. Mira came running in, saw Mical staring around the room, and gave a grateful yelp. She ran up to him and hugged him. “Guys,” she shouted, “Mical’s alive!” With that, everyone ran in as fast as they could. HK-47 uttered something. “Confused Statement: I thought the meatbag was dead. I do not see how he could have come back from the dead. Master,” he walked up to Revan, “do you know how it happened?” Revan simply replied in an awed tone, “No, I don’t.” Mical felt grateful that his life had returned. He did not know how it had happened, but he was grateful, anyways.

Everyone flocked to Ravenstrike’s bedside, as well. He was still faking his unconsciousness. They wondered what had happened to him to make him so corrupt. Only Bastila knew, and she told them. As they listened to her story in awe, something remarkable happened to Ravenstrike: The shell he had carried around his heart for many years finally cracked and broke completely. Later that night, Ravenstrike joined them for dinner. For the first time, he got what he had wanted his whole life: To be loved. As he sat at the table listening to stories and conversing, he felt better inside. He knew now that he could be happy with the ones he now considered his family.
