Author’s Notes: This is the beginning of a new series. It DOES contain Ravenstrike, so you don’t need to worry bout that. Many more surprises and twists await you in this series. Where do they begin? Why, in this story, of course.

He woke up in a cold sweat again for the third night in a row. Oh, how the nightmares plagued Carth. His nightmares seemed realistic, as if they were visions. He didn’t believe that they were VISIONS, but they seemed pretty real to him. Many things had happened over the past couple months. Ravenstrike had become…something of an elite Jedi. Carth didn’t know the exact term. Atton had begun to get more intense with his training. Why, Carth’s son Dustil had just gotten married the week before! He was so proud of Dustil. He was grown up now, and had become an Admiral in the Republic fleet. Arden had disappeared a month earlier. Nobody knew where he had gone, as he disappeared in the middle of the night.

This was one of the nightmares Carth had had. He had dreamt that Arden was fighting something furiously, but all for naught, for he was slain at the end of the dream. Whatever this thing was, it had a lightsaber. And it knew how to use it. Carth shook his mind off of these thoughts and tried to get back to bed. He succeeded at this, but it took him a few minutes.

The dawn came earlier than usual that morning. Those who were Jedi could sense something…and it wasn’t pretty. A ship landed on one of the steppes of Telos’s surface silently. Ravenstrike darted towards its position, being the only one knowing it had landed. It felt…familiar…

The hatch opened slowly. A figure that stood approximately 6 feet tall emerged from the fighter. On his face was a weird mask. “So,” the thing began, “you’re the great Ravenstrike. I must say, your power surprises me. Would you like to sample something?” Ravenstrike, not knowing the thing’s intent, stepped forward cautiously. Almost immedately, he was stricken by Drain Life. “Wh…what the heck was that?” Ravenstrike asked in pain. “Your initiation.” came the thing’s reply. “For what?” “The Dark Side.” Ravenstrike could not beleive what he was hearing. He had been leeched with the Dark Side again. He could feel it inside him, growing and pulsing towards the surface…

The shell. It was forming rapidly. In an attempt to stop it, he did what had to be done: He cut himself off from the Force. It stung him badly. It even WOUNDED him. The thing said, “I am Darth Nihilus. You should have known better!” He had heard of Darth Nihilus, but he was different than what this thing was like. Wounded badly, Ravenstrike lay on the ground crippled with pain. Nihilus got in his ship and flew away.

It was noon when they found Ravenstrike, and his condition was critical. No one knew what had happened. He could not tell them either, for he had slipped into a coma. Mission sat at his bedside for the entire night, crying. She dozed off at about midnight. In the morning, the monitor showed a flatline. Ravenstrike had died shortly after Mission had fallen asleep. A proper burial was given a week later. This loss shook the group to their core. Bastila became depressed and shut herself away from everyone else. Bao-Dur became an angry person, no longer calm and gentle. HK-47 seemed more violent, and T3-M4 more apathetic. Mical distanced himself from the others, not shutting them out, but just not being more active in their conversations. Mira ceased talking. Mandalore stayed outside for most of the day. Atton and Norris stayed in the house for a short while every day. Mission and Carth were simply saddened.

In another part of the Galaxy, aboard the Reformed Ravager, Nihilus was proud of himself. He had broken a link in Arden’s chain. “So, Master Jedi,” he said menacingly to the Jedi he had captured, “one of your allies has been killed. What will you do now?” The response that came from the force cage was from none other than Arden Slyk AKA Revan. “You will pay for what you’ve done, Nihilus. They’ll get back at you.” “This ship is bound to me. If I die, it dies, making their victory short lasted.” Nihilus smirked evilly. Arden stared at him with silent hate. There would be many events in the days to come…
