Topic: Replaying KOTOR...

I've just started a fresh KOTOR replay and decided to start a new thread giving this game a little love. Because, even at almost ten years old it's still an excellent game - and, with a little work to enable the resolution - even looks decent on wide-screen without HD mods!

But I'd forgotten how much I like the feel of the game, the story, characters (though I would still quite happily punch Carth on Taris) and even the mechanics. I usually hate turn based combat because it feels like a waste of processing power, but I actually like how it works on KOTOR.

So if anyone wants to chip in on this little nostalgia fest, go ahead.

Oh, I'd forgotten how much I hate the Bendak Starkiller fight...  hmm

Yeah it’s awful.

To be one with the force, you must be one with yourself.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

It's mainly the fact that I have to redo it so many times and I can't skip all the intro/announcer bit... Hearing that so many times is just...  mad

But I'm at Kashyyyk now...

Well that’s a jump from Taris.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

On Korriban now.  tongue

I might be binging on this game. lol

Korriban is excellent, but it makes me think Kashyyyk was a missed opportunity, comparatively the quests on Kashyyyk seem very short... Also I have a legitimate reason to not take Bastila anywhere on Korriban (I mean, yeah, okay, I could get the mod that restores all the lines she would have had, but no).

I enjoy games were you are given multiple reasons to bring different parties in, Hard part-bring strongest characters
Story-Multiple view point

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

Yeah, I tend to stick with my faves (or the faves for the MC I'm playing).

But, KOTOR doesn't really lend itself to taking anyone but Force-users because they all get taken out so easily.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

Back to this conversation, if you buy old them right big Z and Canderous are tanks. Mission can be utilized for her speed and stealth; hk is always a pleasure to have in a fight. Carth as ranged is underrated, T3 is very situational.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

I have somehow managed to make Carth not terrible this time around. Not sure how...  hmm

So far I've never managed to make any of them into proper tanks. You'd think Canderous would be that guy, but no, he goes down SO EASILY!

Also, Manaan, I love that planet, but how does their justice system actually function when their judges are so biased?

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

...and now I've killed KOTOR.  lol

I got to the fight with Bastila on the Star Forge and it bugged out, repeatedly. So in the end in my quest to fix the damn game and stop it happening again on another play through in the future, I ended up unintalling the game and now it isn't stable and keeps crashing on the Endar Spire (which I'm using to test it's stability).

Now I just need to find the guide I used last time I set it up on this PC because other than that bug it ran perfectly before. lol

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

That is both upsetting and hilarious.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

Yes.

Now I just need to replay the whole game to kill Bastila for putting me through all that. lol

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

Bastila doesn’t deserve death for your system not being up to stuff. Where is the justice?

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

The problem wasn't the system, but something corrupting the save file.

Besides, I can never decide how I feel about saving Bastila in the game regardless of the fact that it was her particular fight-talk cutscene that broke.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

Well, most high-horse riding Jedi are always close to succumbing to the Dark Side. Yeah, she was tortured, but we don’t know the extent or length of the torture. It’s up to you though, kill or save.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

It's more just the attitude she gives the MC for most of the game. Then even Jolee starts implying it's all the MC's fault Bastila fell and it's like... what?

Tbf this game basically taught me that Jolee has the right idea, no black and white just shades of Grey in the Force.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

That’s something the two games really hammered down on with their philosophy. No one side is right, truly.

The force guides the universe.

Re: Replaying KOTOR...

I don't really remember as much to do with the Grey Jedi theory in the second one. But then again it's been a lot longer since I played that one.
