I prefer before eisode 1 cause it show how the characters got the way they are

I also like the ones with the characters that arent in the movies.

If you like stuff that happend before the Galactic Empire (like the First Sith War, Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Civil War, Clone Wars etc) read pre Ep3. If you want to know what happens and how things are like after the fall of the Empire post Ep6 would be you kinda literature.
Personly i like pre Ep3 stuff... Big fan of the Fett's and also like the stories surrounding the Old Republic and not the New one created by Luke and his followers after Ep6
