Topic: How hard is it to find groups for group or heroic missions?
Hello everyone, after watching a playthrough of Star Wars The Old Republic I'm considering playing the game myself because it's the only never-ending wide open sandbox Star Wars game out there other then Star Wars Galaxies which has been discontinued, single or multiplayer alike. I'm a bit of a completionist so I wish to complete any and all jedi and republic missions that don't involve PVP combat, so I'm concerned are the group and "heroic" missions because I'm horrifically shy and have difficulty with communicating with other people. Is it at all difficult for "shrinking violets" or other people with social anxiety to find groups for Group or Heroic Missions? This became a major issue for me in Star Wars Galaxies (Tarquinas server) when the game got revamped somewhere between 2006 to 2008 so that many quests actually required groups. What would happen was when I tried to ask someone for help or if I could join their group I would completely freeze up, I just didn't know how to ask for help without supposedly spamming, so I would do was hang around populated quest sites with the LFG tag and the quest I needed a group for written in my profile (I even tried to entice players with free handouts, hoping to show them I'm a good-meaning and friendly person). It didn't work out well at all, I barely got invited into groups and when I did usually got dragged into something way over my head and ended up making a total jackass out of myself (for example I was looking for a group to do a certain Restuss mission with but instead got dragged into a PVP match), I can't imagine the group leaders were too happy with me. Also, with one of the new rebel mission in the revamp I tried hanging out at the base entrance with the LFG tag hoping to be invited into a group going into the base, and naturally when I didn't get any invites I tried following one group into the base hoping to prove myself useful and be invited in. As to be expected, that ended rather badly, with me being asked to leave (I know, that was stupid of me). So will it be this difficult for "shrinking violets" and other people that have difficulty with communication and socialization to find group for quests that require them? I'd like to know before I get started with the game.
