Topic: Iraq

As some of you may or may not know the US of A is pulling its troops out of Iraq even while they're still fighting off terroists, etc. (curse Obama!  :angry: ). And as some of you may or may not know, I'm currently enlisted in the 13th MEU (Google it how bout it  wink ). My unit was expecting to go in sometime in February 2009 as the bad asses and kick a hell of a lot of Middle Eastern ass. As you know, that has now been cancelled.

However, as said above the troops are still fighting while trying to retreat to the US of A. So my unit, being the Spec. Ops., is moving into Iraq to work as sercurity (sarcastically) Yay. (normal) It's not the ass-kickingness we expected but we do get to maybe kill off a few Middle Eastern Muslims and make the world a better place. big_smile

My unit is shipping off Janruary 5th, 2009. Now I know I'm not on much (yeah, I'm not on a lot), but this may cut down my on time even more... hell, I can asure you it will unless we're not helping transports that day. Well, I just wanted to let you all know so you don't get to wondering where the hell I am at some points.

I'll be on every once in a while to check on things and we'll be coming home sometime in July so it won't be a whole "I'm never coming back thing". Plus you guys are mods and you've got pretty much all the rights I do. Thanks anyway Atrox.

My MOS is a 0200 working a heavy machine gun but since the war is technically over in Iraq we're not allowed to shoot anyone unless they shoot at us first. Used to be "see 'em with a gun: shoot first, ask questions later".

thats sucks. but at least you cant make as big of mistakes as you would during sf,aql phase. like shooting an innocent person.

I'm glad about that. I've heard some scary stories from some guys here about rounding a corner in a building and automatically shooting at the person there just because of natural reaction. Some even shoot an innocent woman or child.

In war there are no innocents.

Not true. There are all kinds of innocents. Not all Middle Easterners look at the US of A's troops as "barbaric, murdering monsters from Hell" (so a few Muslim terroists said). A lot of people (well, more than you'd think) support our being there because like us, they don't like terroist either.

They'd rather stay friends with one of the most powerful nations of this time and the person who buys roughly 1/3 of their crude.
