Chapter 1
Its Over…For Now

Jasmine Dinea lay on her bed after the medal ceremony hand on her forehead. Her strength had still not fully returned after her battle with Malak, his prescence had truly been overwhelming. Not overwhelming enough though.

The guilt she felt though, won over everything. She had not been able to save Bastila, her mentor, or Malak, her former apprentice. When she had returned Carth had assured her there was probably nothing she could have done to turn them, and yet if that were true, why was she still here? Why had her turn to darkness allowed her to be redeemed instead of destroyed like those that had been close to her.

She barely heard her door whisk open as those all to familiar combat boots stepped through. “Carth,” she said before he even had a chance to say a word.

“Boy I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that,” he said chuckling to himself.

“It comes with the territory,” she said smiling sitting up as he sat down at the end of her bed.

“Hey,” he said looking at her concerned, “Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine,” she said shaking here hair loose from the ponytail she constantly kept it in. Her dark blue eyes suddenly distant and filled with pain.

“No your not,” Carth said, “I know you enough by now to know your not. Is it about what happened on the Star Forge. You know I promised a conversation about that.”

She smiled at him, “You know I’m just tired, the battles with both Bastila and Malak exhausted my strength.”

Carth sighed getting up and walking towards her window which overlooked the planet the UnKnown planet where they had been only days before. Jasmine could tell something was bothering him even without using her force abilities. “Carth?” she asked standing behind him.

“You know I sometimes wish I hadn’t been so useless. I couldn’t help you when you turned Juhani, your first battle with Malak, and basically the entire battle on the Star Forge. You had to do it all by yourself and I wish more than anything I could have been there to help you. Make sure you were alright.”

Jasmine grabbed his shoulders gently, “No you don’t Carth. You have no idea what its like to face such overwhelming darkness. It envelops you, destroys you slowly…..basically kills you in the cruelest way possible.”

“Thats what I mean,” Carth said walking towards her, “How could you face that alone?”

She stared at him speechless for a while. She didn’t know what to tell him. “I don’t know,” she muttered, “Maybe Revan had a hand in it all being exposed to that dark side, maybe it helped me to be strong in the face of it….”

“No,” Carth said shaking his head, “I don’t want to believe that woman had anything to do with you.”

“But she did,” Jasmine said, “She’s me Carth. She doesn’t control me anymore, but she was apart of me and I can’t just dismiss that.”

Carth walked past her, “I thought we had put Revan behind us.” He stood now his back to her arms crossed, “I thought you had fully accepted Jasmine Dinea.”

“I have,” she implored, “But its not that easy for me. You don’t feel things like me, you don’t know what its like.”

He shook his head, “I’ve heard these words before and I’m tired of them. Listen Jasmine you told me you loved me. Jasmine told me that, not Revan, and most certainly not the Lord of the Sith.” He turned to her now. “I love you too, I love Jasmine Dinea, in a way I can’t explain. I love you like I loved my wife all those years ago….maybe even more.”

She looked into his deep brown eyes, oh how many times had she fallen for this look? “Carth please,” she said her voice had a slight mournful tone, “I just need time to sort everything out. I just need….time.”

There was a long silence between them as he stood before her and she couldn’t even meet his eyes. She was too scared to even do that. Gently he lifted her chin to face him and then he leaned forward and gently kissed her. When he separated he muttered, “Fine if its time you want, then you shall get it. Just rememeber,” he said heading to her door, “I’m not going anywhere.”

As he walked out Jasmine sat down on her bed head in her hands. Oh Carth, she thought to herself, someday you will understand. Her comm beeped and she ignored it. It beeped again and she finally got up to answer, “Yes this is Jasmine Dinea.”

“Jasmine, Master Vandar has requested your prescence,” Mission’s all to familiar voice answered, “He just boarded the Ebon Hawk.”

“Thank you Mission,” Jasmine said getting her lightsaber and heading over to the main cabin of the Ebon Hawk where diminuitive Master Vandar sat waiting for her.

“Master Dinea, a matter of grave importance we must speak about. It concerns the Sith.”

*
Mission wandered the ship until she finally found Carth in all places, the cockpit. “Carth,” she said smiling, “I thought I might find you here.”

“Master Vandar is here?” he said his gaze staring off into the distance, “To see Jasmine?”

“Yes,” Missioin said softly, “He said it was a matter of great importance.”

“She just defeated Darth Malak what else could be more important then for her to sit and rest?”

Mission looked and him her brows furrowed. The look on his face was one of desperation and yet, yearning. “There’s more to it,” she said leaning closer next to him,”What did you two talk about this morning?”

“Nothing,” Carth said getting up, “Its none of your business.”

“Oh right,” she said smiling, “you and her only proclaimed your love for each other in front of everyone after the temple incident.”

“Which you also told us to get a room,” Carth said, “And I’m holding to that now.”

“Fine,” Mission said shrugging her shoulders, “Have it your way then.”

*
“Yesterday, we received a distress message from a young soldier by the name of Dustil Onasi.”

Before Jasmine could even reply Vandar interrupted her, “Yes the son of Admiral Carth Onasi.”

Jasmine’s heart began to race, the last they had seen of Dustil had been on Korriban. Jasmine had helped Carth to find evidence that the Sith were evil. They had been successful and Dustil had promised to meet his father on Telos after this was all over.

“Whats happened to him?” she asked, “Shouldn’t Carth be here.”

Vandar waved her suggestion away, “No, there is no need for the Admiral to be here. We are sending you to Korriban to retrieve Dustil and several of his friends from the Academy on Korriban. The Headmaster Yathura has put a death sentence on their heads for leaving the Academy and the Sith.”

Jasmine sat back her mind reeling. Where would they be? In the caves where she had killed those Sith students, or maybe one of the tombs. Either way getting past Yathura was not going to be easy. The Sith Master knew she was a Jedi and she had warned her to leave quickly and not return.

“How am I going to get there?” she asked thinking she already knew the answer. Or so she thought.

“We have arranged for Republic transport which you will pilot yourself to Korriban…”

“Wait,” she said, “I’m doing this alone?”

*
Juhani sat outside the main conference room pretending not to listen to what Master Vandar had just proposed to Jasmine. Alone? How could he ask her to go to a planet where the Sith were still a majority? Especially since she would be compromised because she had gone there already?

“How are things going in there?” A man’s voice asked suddenly.

“I don’t know Jolee, its seems Master Vandar intends to push Jasmine to her limit. He has just assigned that she return to Korriban alone to save Dustil Onasi.”

Jolee sighed sitting down beside her. “Same old Jedi, never knowing when enough is enough. And why would he send her alone? He knows Carth has every right to go with her, he’s the boy’s father for pity’s sake.”

“You know why Jolee. You know why Vandar won’t send Jasmine alone with Carth.”

“Yes,” Jolee sighed, “I guess you are right.”

*
Jasmine just sat thinking to herself as Master Vandar ascended back into Republic captiol ship. Alone? And sworn not to tell anybody on the Ebon Hawk about it. How could she lie to these people she had become so close to. Especially Carth, especially since it involved his own son. And especially because, she loved him.
