fan fiction scrollBeloved, Chapter 1

 Carth OnasiRevan (Female/Light Side)Star Wars

That scent. Oh the maker, that scent.

I shouldn’t stare. I know.

Carth fidgeted in his seat at the helm, making room for Kataana. Some of the console’s calibration became unbalanced in that last ambush. Kat was on all fours, with her top half almost completely through the floor panels.

“15, please,” she asked as she blindly handed him the tool in her hand.

Silently, he exchanged the tool in her hand with the one from the tool bin. “How’s it looking?”

“Good, I’m almost done,” Kataana replied.

Kataana had increasingly reminded him more of his beloved Morgana day by day. Morgana was a wrench jockey back on Telos – one of the crew that maintained his squadron’s fighters. Morgana was just as cute covered in grease and grime as she was kicking around the barracks on her day off.

Had she been gone ten years now? What would she say about him now? Would she approve of him and his infatuation with this other woman? Would she encourage him to fall in love again? Am I betraying you, even if you do approve?

One of the first things that get restricted on a ‘wounded’ flight is the bathing facilities. When you don’t know when you’re next access to clean water is, you must conserve what you can. It had been two days. Not an easy two days, either. They had been making repairs all over the ‘Hawk, and every person on board had been sweating they’re skins off during the repairs.

While being stuck in closed quarters with a smelly wookie is enough to drop a bantha, and as nasty as it really must be; whenever Carth found himself near Kat, it was like some base instinct grew from his chest and overtook his body within moments. Her sweat. Her scent. Oh, the scent. Her legs were slightly separated to give her more balance, rolling her hips back; essentially sticking her backside in the air. An image that even called further to his more animalistic desires.

“My back is killing me,” Kat groaned from beneath the panels. “I think I’m done. Give me a hand?”

Carth reached down and grabbed the back of her vest, gently lifting her back up. “You alright?”

“Yeah, just sore,” Kat yawned as she stretched her arms to the ceiling, picking her herself up onto her tiptoes. She bent slightly with her arms in front of her, stretching her back.

“Give ‘em a shot,” she said as she arced her back, stretching her stomach and chest muscles.

“Looks good,” Carth said over his shoulder. “Well, that’s about it, I-I think.”

“Good. Can we hit Manaan instead of Kashyyyk? It’s closer and we could use the supplies before head into another possible Sith ambush.” Kataana asked as she slumped backwards into the co-pilot seat.

“Sounds good, if we can get our Majesty on board with the idea,” Carth snickered. He cleared his throat a little before pushing the ‘com’ button. “Bastila? How are the supplies doing?”

“They’re low, Carth. And yes, Manaan will suffice just fine.”

Carth winced.

“Somebody should have cleared his thoughts when he cleared his throat,” Kataana mumbled from her grin.

“Well, thanks for the heads up… sparky,” Carth poked back.

“Hey! That was not my fault! There was no way I could know that those resistors were bad! I believe that was your job, Mr. Pilot!” Kat threw one of her gloves at his head playfully.

“They were brand new in the package, and from a very reputable and reliable Republic seller,” Carth coughed a little, “So I have a hard time believing that all five parts were bad…” He barely got the words out when the other glove followed suit.

“You suck gizka fodder, Onasi!” Kat spouted off with a grin as she sashayed her way out of the cockpit.

Carth watched her curves as she walked out, like usual, with that same boyish grin and a deep exhale following.

“It’ll be a few hours before we get to Manaan, everyone, but I’m releasing the hygiene pods now. Ladies first, gentlemen.” Carth announced over the com.

“Nah, Wookies first!” Mission hollered from the bunks.

Zaalbar responded from the Drive room with a small roar.

Kat pulled her vest off and laid it upon the bench in the hygiene pod. Disgusted that she could actually feel her shirt separate from her skin, she wrinkled her nose and dropped it to the floor with two fingers. She stripped the rest of the way, then paused before entering the shower.

She had contemplated her next action a thousand times over again. Every day since she first awoke on Taris. Before they had found Bastila. It was nothing serious; just mild flirting… juvenile, really. Despite the pasts of either one, all the things that had happened to both of them over the years. It didn’t matter. Even if Carth was wary, or paranoid at times, Kat knew he was a good man. He stood on his back foot when it came to his beliefs and would rather compromise his own well bring than compromise his morals and ideals.

She had relished in the ability to affect him the way she did. He affected her too, and he knew it. Hell, if it wasn’t for the daily banter that they had shared, this mission would have overwhelmed them. No backup fleet, no solid form of communication from the Republic brass. Only this small rag tag group of 3 kinda-jedis of various degrees of disorder; a wookie cast off; a homeless Mandalorian; a homicidal droid; a teenage rogue twi’lek; and the brave little droid that could.

Bastila could stomp and pout all she wanted about her status as a Jedi, Carth was the one really in charge; and everyone on board knew it. He had the experience, and more than that, he honestly had everyone’s safety and the success of the mission in his mind above all else. His humility and natural leadership is what kept him from reminding her about it. Link or not, Bastila was a spoiled Jedi brat and Kataana could barely stand to be around her.

Kataana pulled the little piece of paper from her pants pocket. Opening it again, she read her own handwriting, “What are you waiting for, Onasi?” and thought about sticking it Carth’s personal belongings above the sink. She had actually placed it a few times, but talked herself out of it, again and again. Flicking the little paper, she placed it in his personal belongings this time, just to keep it dry.

She smirked at her own cowardice then entered the shower.
