Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

My favorite part of the game was when you left Haven. That has to be one of the best scenes in gaming.

Also my favorite part is hunting dragons. Dragon fighting is much better than in last two games.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

When you Dragon hunt do you get to use the scales to make armor like in DA 1?

Great job on braking it down like that and thanks for the heads up on the new combat system which I hate when they change it from the way of the past games. I too always play and finish the side tasks that they give you because in turn that makes for a more fun game and also helps you level up so when you get to the end you are pretty much at the top level to take on anything that may come your way.

Thanks, Jester. The combat system is still pretty good, though I do miss the old style tactics set up from Origins. And being able to rearrange the HUD whilst paused if I can't have all the slots I used to. Oh, and not having to hold down to continue to use basic attack, but that's really minor.
Also I found that in DA-I it's actually possible to over level, towards the end of the game I found the combo of barrier/armour on my mage meant she took no health damage because by the time her barrier was destroyed she could just cast it again... Admittedly I was playing on normal, but you'd think (some) enemies would still scale properly to do more damage than that.

That scene was awesome, but felt more like a TV episode than a cut-scene, it was so long!
And yes, the dragon hunting is much better in this... Or at least, I can finally tackle dragons now even though I never could in the first two.

There's a whole new crafting system in DA-I, which I should've made more use of. I really only used it to fireproof my dragon hunting team towards the end. At that point realised I should've used it more.
If memory serves there's three main crafting materials for weapons/armour; metal, leather and cloth. When dragon hunting you get equivalent materials for each, I think you get dragon bone as a metal, scales for leather and webbing for cloth. Can't remember what kind of quantities though.
Also I'm not sure how it defines "rare" and "common" because I have far larger quantities of some "rare" crafting materials than some of the common ones.

But there are also a couple of dragon related side-quests and war room ops.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

If you like Dragon Age you guys should check out The Witcher: Wild Hunt. It comes out in May on PC and consoles and it's gonna be awesome.

As for DA:I it is amazing especially the main storyline, but what I didn't like was most of the side quests felt dull and where the type of go there and fetch that. There were a few good ones but mostly they were boring to me smile

Hey Lilitia, did you manage to get past level 24?

I can't remember if I finished up everything being level 23 or if it levelled me up to 24 at the very end or not...

Also I liked most of the side-quests, but possibly because I'm slightly OCD inclined about scouting out as much of every map as humanly possible. So I think I found half the objects first and then just had to return them to people I found later... Either that or I just didn't notice they were fetch quests, which is weird 'cause I usually get irritated with fetch quests.

Also, in the Witcher series, how much control do you actually get on story/character/choices? I meant to check it out, but I'm usually more drawn to RPGs where I have more control on who my character is... Which obviously can be done through choices and stuff throughout as well...

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

DA II for me was a kind of a let down when you could only be human because I was looking forward to play as a dwarf and a elf too but I did not have the choice. The Combat was pretty cool in DA II as well because I loved playing as the rogue and loved using the back stabber.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

Well you have a lot of choices to make in the new Witcher and you have different endings. But the story is about Geralt of Rivia, so you can't customize him (except for his hairstyle).

The thing about this game is that it is based of a series of novels "The Witcher" by Andrzej Sapkowski, and CD Projekt has stayed true to the characters from the books.

As for the rest you should really watch youtube gameplay videos and watch the interviews. And you could try playing the second game The Witcher: Assassin of Kings. It's awesome too.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I FINALLY got around to playing Dragon Age: Origins, and it's pretty good. I enjoyed Mass Effect more, but I like the advances that they made in turn based combat to make it better than KotOR.

I find that DA 2 is better all around then DA 1 was but the only thing about DA 2 that I did not like is that you can only be human.

Have you tried Inquisition yet? I've heard really good things about that game.

You didn't mind the blatant reuse of areas then? That got on my nerves after a time.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

LSM, I have not played the third game yet but I too have heard great things about the game.

Lilitia, The reuse of the areas did get old after awhile but I still think DA 2 has a better combat system and better combat moves to choose from then in DA 1.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

Da 2 was described very well to me one time. It's about politics where as da1 and origins is about adventure.

True, but having said that I was disappointed they didn't style the HUD like they did in Origins, it had a better theme back then.

However I did love DA2, and despite the fact that it was clear they ran out of time (hence map reuse), I thought it was a great game and don't know why it got all the hate it did. Maybe as Seduction implied, people were just expecting another Origins...

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I wished that in DA 2 you could return to some of the towns and places from DA 1 to see how things have changed.

Also, In DA 3 does Morgan make any type of appearance?

Isn't she in the promo video?

Mild Spoiler; Depends on your "world state" ie imported saves. But yes, for me she did & it was significant. I shall say no more.

Not sure but she was one of my favorite party members from DA 1.
