As much as I love Alistair, how would that work for those who chose other than allowing him to remain a Warden? I don't think they'd code for a companion who wouldn't be involved in everyone's game. But I hope he makes more of an appearance than he did in DA2.

Lilitia pretty much summed it up. Alistair can't be a companion because A) He's the King of Ferelden. And kings can't wander around with an adventurer all willy nilly. B) He's a Grey Warden and off doing something that doesn't involve... well, getting involved in a bloody war between mages and templars. C) He's dead.

I heard speculation that one Origins companion and one DA2 companion were returning as companions again. We're pretty much all aware that the DA2 character is Varric but the Origins one is still a mystery. I put my vote on Leliana. Possibly. Maybe. I don't know.

I hope there's more companion interaction in DA:I than in DA2, it might be that it just seems that way, but I swear there isn't as much interaction as there was in DA:O. It was my main complaint about DA2 once I got into the spirit of the game.

Bioware has stated that the player will be able to speak to companions when desired but not necessarily at every location. Like if you're in a cave trying to hide from a demon that's hunting you down... yeah, pretty sure Varric is gonna call you a nug humper and argue that this is not the best time to be asking him questions about his childhood.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

Alistair... He's a good guy. I don't think he'll be returning as a companion but he will definitely be in the game. (if he survived)

Did they say anything about Morrigan? Will she be a companion or just another character in the game?

I think Morrigan will be the DA:O companion

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I agree with you Konah and I wish they would team up now and make KOTOR 3 for the 360 and pc.

I do believe they said he would make an appearance in the game.

Actually Bioware has confirmed that it won't be Morrigan. She plays a part in the game but she's not a companion.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

It would be cool to see Morrigan's child that she has and find out what she needed him/she for.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

Well technically the demon-god baby isn't canon. Bioware's canon story for DA: O is a Dalish elf who makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to slay the Archdemon. So no demon-god baby in any future games. At least not as a main plot character or anything.

It's a big disappointment really. It would have made a pretty badass plot point.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

My real quest is, why an elf? I mean don't get me wrong I normally played an elf anyway, but that kinda seems lame imo. I'm going to have to play DA:O and DA:A and import my character to DA2 and get it ready for DA:I

Possibly something to do with the Eluvian? And it's only canon as far as the books go. And if you don't import any saves into DA II or DA: I.

Unless you're getting it on an older console, you don't have to go through all that trouble. Since you can't import 360 saved files to the Xbox One everything regarding your saves is handled by the Keep. It allows you to build your DA world up from the smallest details. It's really amazing.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

So is it going to be out for the 360 too or is it just a x box one game?

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

It's out for both consoles if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

If so then I will get it.  cool

Has anyone seen the game Rise for the xbox 1? You are a Roman soldier which looks awesome and I wonder if they will have it out on the 360 too?

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I started my third play through and this time I am playing as a Male Human Mage. So far it is fun but it is taking me time to get use to not being on the front lines of the battles. Over all so far it is really fun playing a Mage in DA 1.

There was me thinking half the fun of playing as a mage was dying too many times when you realise you shouldn't be in the middle of the fight... tongue

Also, was it just me who thought that someone in a fight with a huge mage staff - which often has a very sharp pointy end - should've been able to do some melee type damage with it? I imagine it'd have been a bugger to program, it just seemed a little silly to make it look like you could hit people with it but then never make that applicable.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I agree because I thought that too because some of the leaders that you face will come after you even if you have not attacked him yet and the melee attack would be a great thing to have at that point even if it was just to hold him off until help came.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

So has anyone else started/currently playing/finished Dragon Age Inquisition?

I just finished the game and have to say that I loved it, despite the few combat nuances that I eventually got used to. Anything else I wouldn't start to talk about for fear of spoiling it for others if no one else has even started to play...

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I have not got to play it yet but from what I have heard from my brother who has it, It seems to be a awesome game. Also you can talk about it because that will not stop me from getting it or playing it so talk about it all you want.  big_smile  cool

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

I doubted talking about it would stop anyone wanting to get/play it, but it helps to know what level to keep the discussion to and to avoid spoilers to know how far others have got.
I mean obviously you signpost spoilers regardless but there's no point even mentioning any if no one else has got there. tongue

Tbf my main bugbear was some of the tweaks they made to the combat system, mostly that the quick bar now only has 8 slots for talents/spells which can only be changed out of combat. I like playing as a mage so therefore usually have quite a few for different purposes, so rearranging them before a fight would be fine, if it wasn't completely random sometimes what kind of enemies you got. So the first time you'd have ice based spells equipped only to have something immune to that pop up, so if you have to restart you prepare & reassign to fire based and lo and behold you've got something resistant to fire instead... I'd think it was rigged like that to make it more difficult, but then you occasionally get one that works out to hate what you have shortcuts for.
Also inventory space is a lot more conservative, mostly due to a lack of storage chest... I mean, I get that you can't keep everything, but it is useful to be able to store things until they become more useful later on rather than having them just clog up your inventory. /rant.

However, there is a LOT of random world to go and explore. Which means plenty to go and find and resources to gather, and plenty of opportunities for party banter (which sometimes I found I got loads of and other times it was sparse for no reason at all, but you know).
Just a quick look at the map at the end of my game; there's 10 large area maps to unlock, plus two or three "town" type areas, and then a few mini areas that are quest related.
And even better is that they have their own unique feel to them, obviously there's always going to be some similarities to the outdoor areas as a tree is always a tree etc, but you never feel like you did in DA2 where it was an "oh, this is just that place reused", because each area has been designed as it's own entity.

Personally I really like the storyline, and they give you a good selection of "no turning back" choices, how much influence these have on the overall arc I'm not sure, hopefully I'll find out as I do things differently. Though one choice in particular I just found horrible for the choice itself rather than the nature of the choice. Hopefully it won't be like ME3 where you think you're making all these critical decisions for yourself and then it turns out that actually it was all an illusion and none of it really mattered. The companion characters are good too, though Bioware always did have a knack for characters and story.

So yeah, I really enjoyed it. And I only felt underwhelmed once in the whole time I played (which was 103hrs because I always insist on doing every side quest they put in my journal no matter how trivial), so yeah, pretty damn awesome.

Re: Dragon Age: 1&2

Great job on braking it down like that and thanks for the heads up on the new combat system which I hate when they change it from the way of the past games. I too always play and finish the side tasks that they give you because in turn that makes for a more fun game and also helps you level up so when you get to the end you are pretty much at the top level to take on anything that may come your way.
