I personally liked him beter in KotOR II, too... he seemed like a better person and seemed to come to face the fact that being a Mando'ade isn't about tal'dina (bloodthirst).

He did improve alot... when he turned into Mand'alor it came with responsibility which can change a person. You also have to remember that the Jedi Exile didn't come along until about three years after KotOR ended...
