Also, In DA 3 does Morgan make any type of appearance?
Isn't she in the promo video?
Mild Spoiler; Depends on your "world state" ie imported saves. But yes, for me she did & it was significant. I shall say no more.

Lilitia, The reuse of the areas did get old after awhile but I still think DA 2 has a better combat system and better combat moves to choose from then in DA 1.
True, but having said that I was disappointed they didn't style the HUD like they did in Origins, it had a better theme back then.
However I did love DA2, and despite the fact that it was clear they ran out of time (hence map reuse), I thought it was a great game and don't know why it got all the hate it did. Maybe as Seduction implied, people were just expecting another Origins...
I find that DA 2 is better all around then DA 1 was but the only thing about DA 2 that I did not like is that you can only be human.
You didn't mind the blatant reuse of areas then? That got on my nerves after a time.

As for DA:I it is amazing especially the main storyline, but what I didn't like was most of the side quests felt dull and where the type of go there and fetch that. There were a few good ones but mostly they were boring to me
Hey Lilitia, did you manage to get past level 24?
I can't remember if I finished up everything being level 23 or if it levelled me up to 24 at the very end or not...
Also I liked most of the side-quests, but possibly because I'm slightly OCD inclined about scouting out as much of every map as humanly possible. So I think I found half the objects first and then just had to return them to people I found later... Either that or I just didn't notice they were fetch quests, which is weird 'cause I usually get irritated with fetch quests.
Also, in the Witcher series, how much control do you actually get on story/character/choices? I meant to check it out, but I'm usually more drawn to RPGs where I have more control on who my character is... Which obviously can be done through choices and stuff throughout as well...
Event horizon
Great job on braking it down like that and thanks for the heads up on the new combat system which I hate when they change it from the way of the past games. I too always play and finish the side tasks that they give you because in turn that makes for a more fun game and also helps you level up so when you get to the end you are pretty much at the top level to take on anything that may come your way.
Thanks, Jester. The combat system is still pretty good, though I do miss the old style tactics set up from Origins. And being able to rearrange the HUD whilst paused if I can't have all the slots I used to. Oh, and not having to hold down to continue to use basic attack, but that's really minor.
Also I found that in DA-I it's actually possible to over level, towards the end of the game I found the combo of barrier/armour on my mage meant she took no health damage because by the time her barrier was destroyed she could just cast it again... Admittedly I was playing on normal, but you'd think (some) enemies would still scale properly to do more damage than that.
My favorite part of the game was when you left Haven. That has to be one of the best scenes in gaming.
Also my favorite part is hunting dragons. Dragon fighting is much better than in last two games.
That scene was awesome, but felt more like a TV episode than a cut-scene, it was so long!
And yes, the dragon hunting is much better in this... Or at least, I can finally tackle dragons now even though I never could in the first two.
When you Dragon hunt do you get to use the scales to make armor like in DA 1?
There's a whole new crafting system in DA-I, which I should've made more use of. I really only used it to fireproof my dragon hunting team towards the end. At that point realised I should've used it more.
If memory serves there's three main crafting materials for weapons/armour; metal, leather and cloth. When dragon hunting you get equivalent materials for each, I think you get dragon bone as a metal, scales for leather and webbing for cloth. Can't remember what kind of quantities though.
Also I'm not sure how it defines "rare" and "common" because I have far larger quantities of some "rare" crafting materials than some of the common ones.
But there are also a couple of dragon related side-quests and war room ops.
Obliterate
I doubted talking about it would stop anyone wanting to get/play it, but it helps to know what level to keep the discussion to and to avoid spoilers to know how far others have got.
I mean obviously you signpost spoilers regardless but there's no point even mentioning any if no one else has got there.
Tbf my main bugbear was some of the tweaks they made to the combat system, mostly that the quick bar now only has 8 slots for talents/spells which can only be changed out of combat. I like playing as a mage so therefore usually have quite a few for different purposes, so rearranging them before a fight would be fine, if it wasn't completely random sometimes what kind of enemies you got. So the first time you'd have ice based spells equipped only to have something immune to that pop up, so if you have to restart you prepare & reassign to fire based and lo and behold you've got something resistant to fire instead... I'd think it was rigged like that to make it more difficult, but then you occasionally get one that works out to hate what you have shortcuts for.
Also inventory space is a lot more conservative, mostly due to a lack of storage chest... I mean, I get that you can't keep everything, but it is useful to be able to store things until they become more useful later on rather than having them just clog up your inventory. /rant.
However, there is a LOT of random world to go and explore. Which means plenty to go and find and resources to gather, and plenty of opportunities for party banter (which sometimes I found I got loads of and other times it was sparse for no reason at all, but you know).
Just a quick look at the map at the end of my game; there's 10 large area maps to unlock, plus two or three "town" type areas, and then a few mini areas that are quest related.
And even better is that they have their own unique feel to them, obviously there's always going to be some similarities to the outdoor areas as a tree is always a tree etc, but you never feel like you did in DA2 where it was an "oh, this is just that place reused", because each area has been designed as it's own entity.
Personally I really like the storyline, and they give you a good selection of "no turning back" choices, how much influence these have on the overall arc I'm not sure, hopefully I'll find out as I do things differently. Though one choice in particular I just found horrible for the choice itself rather than the nature of the choice. Hopefully it won't be like ME3 where you think you're making all these critical decisions for yourself and then it turns out that actually it was all an illusion and none of it really mattered. The companion characters are good too, though Bioware always did have a knack for characters and story.
So yeah, I really enjoyed it. And I only felt underwhelmed once in the whole time I played (which was 103hrs because I always insist on doing every side quest they put in my journal no matter how trivial), so yeah, pretty damn awesome.

Wow that was a long post... You said you wanted people to talk more on this site, right?
Down
So has anyone else started/currently playing/finished Dragon Age Inquisition?
I just finished the game and have to say that I loved it, despite the few combat nuances that I eventually got used to. Anything else I wouldn't start to talk about for fear of spoiling it for others if no one else has even started to play...
I understand your logic.
That might be more worrying.

Napalm is not sticky just to let you know.
I was thinking sticky fire, which actually makes me sound stupider, I know. But my understanding of napalm is that it tends to burn first/better therefore the thing that it's on doesn't - so the fire looks sticky.
...I'll shut up now.
