Chapter 5….
The Search Begins
(On Dantooine)
“WHAT?!?!” screamed Bastila and Telia
“NO!” shouted Atton as he started running toward the Enclave
“Master I just received a communication from the Cathar” informs HK-47 “It appears that the enclave was attacked at the same time we were” explained HK-47.
“Who the hell…. what the hell attacked us?” Atton asked.
“I cannot tell,” answered HK, “the enemy left no trace.”
Revan paced around the enclave staring at the walls and muttering to himself.
“Revan,” Bastila asked, “are you okay?”
“Huh, what?” Revan said looking startled, “I’m fine Bastila… just thinking.”
“You guys sort this out, I have some…. work to do.”
Without saying another word, Revan turned on the spot and left the enclave without looking back.
“Men, set up a 60 km perimeter around us immediately,” commanded Canderous
“Yes sir!” responded all of the Mandalorians that had come along with him to the enclave
While they moved out, the others tended to the dead, the dying and the only three wounded.
Meanwhile, in another part of the galaxy far removed from the recent trauma on Dantooine, Cyvan returns to the base, and upon arrival, is confronted by Lord Reika.
“How goes, my apprentice,” Reika asked not looking at Cyvan or getting up from his balcony seat overlooking the planet.
“Excellent master,” Cyvan replies, trying hard to conceal the eagerness and glee in his voice.
“Have you heard of the recent events on Dantooine, my apprentice?” Reika asked off-handedly.
“The one about the sith assassins attacking some jedi, yeah,” Cyvan said.
“Indeed,” Reika said.
He stands up walks back into the adjoining room, his apprentice backpedaling to get out of his way.
“Funny,” Reika muttered.
“What?” asked Cyvan.
“I don’t recall hearing on the news that the attackers were sith assassins,” Reika said calmly almost airily.
“I sensed it, in the force,” Cyvan responded.
“Yes indeed,” Reika said.
“Tell me,” he said, “You wouldn’t happen to know anything else about the attack that wasn’t on the news, would you?” Reika asked inquisitively, turning to look at his apprentice with his closed eyes that were somehow discomforting.
“Nothing else master,” Cyvan said, without looking at Reika.
“Very well then,” Reika said, and dismissed the matter with a wave of his hand.
“What is our next course of action my master?” Cyvan asked, eager to change the subject.
“Patience!” Reika said, somewhat exasperated, “everything is beginning to fall into place.”
“You and your patience,” Cyvan sneered, “to hell with patience!”
“That’s all I get every time I ask about the plan, have patience, wait,” he yelled, “I have waited a long time to strike down the jedi; I will not stand to wait any longer.”
There is a pause, Cyvan breathes heavy with suppressed anger. Finally, Reika smiles and laughs.
“WHY THE HELL ARE YOU LAUGHING!?!?” Cyvan screamed
“ANSWER ME!” he demanded, taking out and activating his lightsaber.
Reika, seemingly unmoved by his apprentice’s rage, fixed his unwavering gaze on Cyvan and spoke.
“Fate it seems, has just smiled upon us,” he said bemusedly
“AND WHAT DOES THAT…….” Cyvan trailed off under Reika’s frigid stare.
“They are coming,” Reika said in a half whisper, “they are coming here to find us.”
“How utterly foolish of them,” Reika said and smiled that cruel malicious smile that assured Cyvan that a plot was hatching in his master’s thoughts.
“Cyvan,” Reika said in hoarse bark, “ready yourself and clean this place up a little.”
“After all,” he said still smiling, “we have company on the way.”
Company is on the way o_O
