 Star Wars

I quickly contacted the rest of the group to rendezvous back at the camp. Bastila and I then filled them in on the situation. We quickly devised a plan that led to a three man squad which included me, Mission and Bastila infiltrating the embassy at nightfall. I was against the idea of Bastila coming along due to fact that she was number one on the Sith’s wanted list but since we might run into Force Users, it was concluded that only a Jedi would stand a real chance.

I wore a light set of black armour perfect for sneaking around under my cloths, restocked my ammo supply and got some rest as we waited for the day to pass. When all was set, we set off to find the stall of Janice Nall and the T3-M4 that would be our ticket into the base. The sun was setting by the time we left the camp. It wasn’t hard to find Janice, hers was the only mechanic shop in the Upper city which was ran by a Twi’lek.

As soon as I dropped Canderous’ name, she relinquished the T3-M4 unit to us without questions. When all was set, we crept around the side of the embassy and found a ventilation shaft that led us in. With T3-M4’s help, we were able to find the control room without encountering any resistance. T3 quickly downloaded the base map and set a few clever traps for the Sith including remote hacking into a few security droids and wall mounted security turrets.

“Okay, we’re in, T3 stay here and keep an eye out for us. On my signal activate the traps and cause a diversion. That should buy us enough time to get the codes and get out without encountering heavy resistance.” I said.

I turned to the other two and said:

“Remember return fire only. We don’t want the Sith to find out we’re here; Bastila can you use the Force to put a few of them to sleep?”

“I could, but only for a few minutes and the farther I get, the harder it becomes.”

“Alright, then put everyone out within a 10 meter radius of us to sleep until Mission and I can knock them out. T3 get ready.”

When the cost was clear, Mission, Bastila and I crept out of the control room and T3 sealed the door behind us. We made our way to the governor’s quarters where the codes were being kept in the governor’s personal datapad. When we reached the elevator that would take us up to the next level of the base, we ran into a couple of squads of guards changing shifts. Luckily, Mission was able to warn us and we dove into the nearest cover.

“T3 do it.” I said through the com unit in my left ear.

A series of sudden burst of electricity from control panels that fried anyone within a few meters, toxic gas being redirected towards several rooms, the sudden sealing of doors and the buzzing of a few security droids and security turrets was the only warning the Sith got before they were suddenly dying from what they believed was a massive malfunction in the embassy’s system.

Within a few minutes most of the Sith in the embassy were neutralized and were clear to head for the elevator. The ride in that tube was quick and when we got onto the next and only floor, it was dominated by only one massive room.

“Well, so much for inconspicuous. Every inch of this room screams ‘Governors Quarters’.” Bastila commented.

“T3 are you detecting any life forms in that room?” I asked.

A few beeps and tweets was T3’s answer which my comm. unit translated as

“Can you bypass the controls and open the door? I don’t want to be standing here all day. And block all communications in and out of that room for us please.”

Another round of beeps followed

“You are one cheeky bastard for a droid you know? I like you.” Mission butted in.

More beeps and tweets.

“Bastila can you cut through those blast doors with your lightsaber?” I asked.

“Sure, let’s not keep our host waiting.” She said.

She activated her lightsaber and, for a moment, the yellow hue of the blade before it was plunged into the metal sent Goosebumps throughout my body as I remembered the dreams I’ve been having. It took Bastila two minutes to cut through the metal and the doors swoosh open as the locking mechanisms in it melted.

I was expecting the governor to be a high ranking Sith soldier but what I didn’t expect was someone who was wearing the robes of a Sith apprentice.

“Hmmm… I sensed a disturbance in the Force, but I was expecting it to come from a Jedi, not from you. You actually covered up your companion’s presence with your own.” He said staring at me.

“My master will be pleased if I strike you down along with your Jedi companion. With this, he will surely reward me with my lightsaber. Are you ready to die?” He continued.

“Not before you do.” I said and drew my blaster.

“Eon wait!” Was all Bastila could say before the three of us were flying backwards out of the room.

Mission hit her head on the beam of the doors, knocking her out while Bastila was able to minimize the blow by protecting herself in a cocoon of the Force, or at least that’s what I believe she did. I was able to grab the door with my left hand, unfortunately, I held on to the part that was melted. The molten metal was burning through my gloves and I was feeling the intense heat slowly throughout my palms.

Because of my antics, my blaster was flung out of the room and all I could count on was the knife I had sheathed on my right chest. Bastila was putting up a very good fight, and although the Sith was only using a vibro sword, he was cunning. He was able to manoeuvre Bastila into a corner which forced Bastila into the defence. Feeling slightly groggy, I got onto my feet and rushed to buy Bastila time to recover. Yet again the Sith proved his cunning by knocking Bastila out with the butt of his hilt.

I was now at a disadvantage I didn’t expect. Although the Sith was only using a vibro sword, he proved to be very efficient and with the help of the Force, he was dodging my blows with agility that only the most nimble gymnast could accomplish. More than once, I received cuts and bruises I could have avoided before had I the strength. The fight started to get tiring and though I knew I was also Force-sensitive, I still didn’t know how to tap into the power of the Force. In my past battles, I was only able to tap into it with instinct, like I had grown a 6th sense.

I fought to drive him back, but there really wasn’t much a knife could do against a sword. I was beaten down until I was on my right knee yet he still battered on. Suddenly, a blaster bolt coming from the elevator hit the Sith on his shoulders. While he was distracted, I sliced his kneecap. He went down with a howl and the room was suddenly filled with the smell of sizzling meat as a tube of pure energy burst out of his chest.

The Sith eyes rolled and closed and his face which a moment before was filled with rage slowly became blank. When I looked up, Bastila was standing behind the Sith with her lightsaber plunged from behind the Sith. She deactivated her lightsaber and helped me up. I looked towards the elevator and I saw Mission holding my blaster which explained who fired the shot that distracted the Sith.

“Thanks.” I said to the two of them.

“Next time let’s try not being hasty hmm?” Mission answered.

“I’ll remember that, now let’s find those codes and get out of here.” I replied.

“T3 is the embassy still on lock down?” Bastila asked T3 through the comm. unit.

T3 said.

“How long will they get here?” I asked.

was the reply I got.

“Then let’s get moving.” Mission told us.

It took us a full six minutes to comb the governors quarters completely as we also searched for anything that could help us get off the planet. When all was said and done, we rushed out of the place and headed back to the ventilation shaft in which we came in…
